Congo Global Action
Congo Global Action is a global network of concerned organizations and individuals who care about the Democratic Republic of the Congo and are committed to working to help the Congolese. Congo Global Action plans grassroots events, runs advocacy campaigns, and educates the public about the crisis.
The Genocide Intervention Network
The Genocide Intervention Network envisions a world in which the global community is willing and able to protect civilians from genocide and mass atrocities. GI-Net’s mission is to empower individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide.
Invisible Children
By documenting the lives of those living in regions of conflict and injustice, Invisible Children hopes to educate and inspire individuals in the Western world to use their unique voice for change. In war-affected regions Invisible Children focuses on long-term development, working directly with individuals and institutions that are eager to realize their full potential. Through education and innovative economic opportunities, they partner with affected communities in Uganda and strive to improve the quality of life for individuals living in conflict and post-conflict regions.
Resolve Uganda
Resolve Uganda is the campaign to end the war in Uganda, made up of people and organizations that believe that peace is possible and that together we can make it happen. Resolve Uganda was created to translate our individual conviction and concern into collective action for a long overdue end to the war.
The Save Darfur Coalition
The Save Darfur Coalition is an alliance of more than 180 faith-based, advocacy and human rights organizations with more than 1 million activists and 1,000 community groups committed to ending the genocide in Darfur. Save Darfur is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The mission of the coalition is to raise public awareness and mobilize a massive response to the atrocities in Darfur. By engaging and educating Americans on the dire situation in Darfur, the coalition continues to apply political pressure on elected leaders to end the first genocide of the 21st century.
STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition
With more than 700 chapters at schools around the globe, STAND is the fastest-growing student anti-genocide coalition in the world today. STAND chapters actively organize to prevent and stop genocide wherever and whenever it may occur. In partnership with the Genocide Intervention Network, STAND's long-term goal is to establish a permanent anti-genocide constituency that holds elected officials accountable for doing all that they can to prevent and end genocide.
Kassim the Dream
This is the story of World Champion Boxer, Kassim "The Dream" Ouma - born in Uganda, kidnapped by the rebel army and trained to be a child soldier at the age of 6. When the rebels took over the government, Kassim became an army soldier who was forced to commit many horrific atrocities, making him both a victim and perpetrator. He soon discovered the army's boxing team and realized the sport was his ticket to freedom. After 12 years of warfare, Kassim defected from Africa and arrived in the United States. Homeless and culture shocked, he quickly rose through the boxing ranks and became Junior Middleweight Champion of the World.
Sand and Sorrow
Sand and Sorrow details the historically tragic events that have given rise to an Arab-dominated government’s willingness to kill and displace its own indigenous African people, and examines the international community’s legacy of failure to respond to such profound crimes against humanity in the past. To date, as many as 400,000 civilians in Darfur have perished from violence, starvation and disease.
Darfur Now
Darfur Now is a story of hope in the midst of one of humanity's darkest hours – a call to action for people everywhere to end the catastrophe unfolding in Darfur, Sudan. In this documentary, the struggles and achievements of six different individuals from inside Darfur and around the world bring to light the tragedy in Sudan and show how the actions of one person can make a difference to millions.
